Day 203: Fake Crab & Pork Chops

For lunch I had fake crab pasta salad with feta, watercress, dill relish, Old Bay, and celery.

For dinner we had mushroom wild rice pilaf, pork chops and sautéd beef and radish greens with French breakfast radishes

I dropped a new cellphone off at my dad’s and picked up my mom’s death certificates which arrived yesterday. I’m glad we can get moving with her estate. I also took Mitzi over to met him!

Day 201: Chicken & Baked Potatoes

For lunch I had a piece of the leftover chicken and some bread. Matt had noodles and cottage cheese.

For dinner we had pork country ribs I made in the slow cooker with apples, onion and spices. I had broccoli and a baked potato and Matt had a baked sweet potato because he still wasn’t feeling 100%.

We watched the premiere of the new Fargo and another episode of World on Fire. I had a migraine most of the day and didn’t feel like doing much.

Day 199: Dumplings and Noodles

For lunch we finished off the leftover chicken in some mi goreng with a fried egg and green onion.

For dinner Matt made some shrimp dumplings— both boiled and fried wonton style—-with shrimp, spinach and green onion filling. Very good! He also made miso steelhead trout.

We watched Clue and Seberg on Prime but neither was great. I had seen Clue many years ago but what a mess. They kept saying funny stuff but not really nailing the delivery. Seberg was just flat. We didn’t really see any emotions about anything that happened.

I finished the 193rd book I’ve read this year. The Pratt suddenly ordered 4 books I had recommended years ago so I got a lot of books in at once.

Day 198: Doenjang jjigae & a Chicken Sandwich

For lunch I made us doenjang jjigae with the last of our frozen mixed seafood. So good! It was very easy too. We have a lot of doenjang leftover so I see more in our future.

For dinner I had a chicken sandwich and a cookie.

We watched the New Zealand show on Sundance and then the premiere of GBBO on Netflix. So glad they decided to air that early this year! They sent the wrong woman home though. Why doesn’t Paul Hollywood like flavor? The other woman literally scraped cake out with her fingers and formed new cakes and she got to stay.

Day 197: Hot Dogs &Chicken Sandwiches

Yesterday I went to help my dad order some clothes and picked up some estate paperwork I needed. He made me cookies while I was there! I brought them home to eat.

We ran into the neighbors with their new Boston Terrier puppies. I can’t imagine having two puppies! I think they were unmasked but I stayed far away and of course was wearing my mask. I did pet a puppy at the end of her long leash though! We were outside.

After than I swung by Costco and picked up a chicken and a few other things like more andouille while that was on still sale and some salted pollack. I also got some toilet paper, they are only allowing one per customer and their supplies were really low.

I hate going out so much but I worry things are going to get worse in the colder weather and we are really going to wish that we had stocked up more. Right now the positivity rate is under 3%.

I came home and Matt made us sandwiches with the chicken.

For dinner we had hot dogs and bagged salad from Lidl. I had planned to make something more exciting but I was a little burnt out.

We watched more Kingdom on Netflix.

I finished the new Vendela Vida book. I watched a little bit of Sister Sister on Netflix. How do I remember all those plots?? Seeing a 14 year old Brittany Murphy is always sad.

Day 196: Shrimp & Gingersnap Stew

I did a big Aldi shop. I actually bought a lot of non food items this time—it was the week they had a lot of dog items for sale. They were still out of some off things and hadn’t gotten their full shipment in, there was a couple of sale items I didn’t get to pick up.

I bought more frozen breaded shrimp but the freezer was so full, I ended up eating it for lunch because it wouldn’t fit.

For dinner we had leftover Gingersnap beef stew.

We watched Enola Holmes on Netflix. Super cute and great cast!

Day 195: Soba & Tomato Salad

Matt still doesn’t feel 100% so for my lunch I made my main meal of the day. I made sesame soba with leftover chicken, roasted squash, carrots and red cabbage. He had noodles and cottage cheese.

For dinner I had tomato salad with the rest of the roasted squash from lunch, red onion, the last of the blue cheese and some olives. I also baked some crispy shrimp. Matt had chicken rice again.

Matt’s parents sent me Milkbar as a sympathy gift so I had a cake truffles and a candy bar snap.

I got to spend some time in the hammock reading again! Lovely weather and no neighborhood construction!

Tomorrow I’m going to do our big grocery shop for the month. Aldi has a lot of housewares on sale this week that look good. The last couple months we have done a lot more in person shopping than before but I kind of want to get it out of the way just in case things get really bad and we want to skip shopping a lot again.

We watched Petits Meurtres d’Agatha Christie on Mhz and Don’t Forget the Driver on Britbox. I also watched the latest episode of Last Tango in Halifax this morning on PBS. I’m surprised that came back! It’s been years since the last season.
